Jackson State Notebook: Updates

GRAY OK AFTER ANKLE SCARE

Jackson State receiver Rodney Gray was back at practice after leaving midway through Tuesday's workout with a hurt ankle.

"I just rolled it a little - nothing too serious," Gray said. "It's nothing I can't handle."

The Tigers have been getting healthier as a team over recent days with defensive tackles Jamile Owens and Idrees Abdur-Rashied, along with receivers Terrance Jones and Kethonne McLaurin, all back on the field.

"It's good to see those guys working with us instead of sitting on the sidelines doing sit-ups or riding a bike," JSU coach Rick Comegy said. "Now we can concentrate on getting ready for Delta State."

STILL WAITING ON CLARK

Defensive tackle Corey Clark was a no-show at practice on Wednesday, one day after he said he hoped to be back on the field.

Comegy said Clark, who has missed practice for a week because of various personal problems, may not be back on the field until Monday.

"We hope that's the absolute latest this will last," Comegy said. "We need him on the field."

Junior Dennis Coit started in Clark's place. Comegy said Coit played well but got tired close to the end of practice because of the added repetitions.

"He's shown us he'll get in there and fight, and that's what's important," Comegy said.
