2007 Sports Network FCS All-America Team Announced

It's that time of year again--for main stream sports publications to ignore the talent in the MEAC and SWAC conferences. Today, the Sports Network website announced their preseason All-America team which included a total of 81 players from the various Football Championship Subdivision (formerly 1-AA) colleges and universities. It is very strange how the National Football League can find superior talent and performers at Hampton University, SCSU or Alabama State, among others but the Sporting Network cannot find but seven (7) players at Historical Black Colleges and Universities worthy of recognition to their 2007 preseason team.

I am sure there are several former NFL players coaching in the SWAC and MEAC that will disagree with this preseason listing, and the absence of players like Kelcy Luke at Alabama A&M; Tyrone McGriff, Florida A&M; Will Ford, SCSU and so forth. Sure, I understand there are only 81 positions available, but how can you ignore a proven performer like FAMU's All-MEAC, Associated Press All-American kicker/punter, Wesley Taylor?

Nevertheless, here are the HBCU players named for preseason recognition from The Sports Network. Congratulations to those named, their member institutions and let's all have a great season. Let the battles begin.
