Hall's hot second half helps Xavier beat William Carey

NEW ORLEANS -- Senior center Keldra Hall scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half Tuesday to lead NAIA No. 16 Xavier University of Louisiana to a 55-38 women's basketball victory against William Carey.

The Gold Nuggets (6-3) won their second in a row and snapped the four-game win streak of the Lady Crusaders (4-4).

Hall scored all her second-half points in the final 14 minutes, including consecutive 3-point plays which gave Xavier a 47-27 lead with 4:20 remaining. For the game Hall was 7-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the line in 15 minutes. Xavier is 5-0 this season when Hall scores in double figures.

Haleigh Arcement scored 14 points, 10 in the second half, for William Carey. The Lady Crusaders were 1-of-16 on 3-pointers after shooting 39 percent from long range in their previous five games.

The Gold Nuggets outshot the Lady Crusaders 37 to 24.4 percent from the floor and outrebounded them 39-29. Xavier shot a season-best 92.3 percent from the line, making 12-of-13, and beat William Carey for the 19th consecutive time at The Barn. Xavier leads the series 48-19. The teams will meet again on January 30 at William Carey.

Xavier's next game will start at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Barn against NAIA No. 21 Shorter.
