Bigger Bethune-Cookman roster means more depth for 2013 season

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida  -- There is no time for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats baseball team to ease into the 2013 schedule.

B-CU opens the season Friday at Arizona State with the first of three games against the Sun Devils. Arizona State, a tradition-rich program, is ranked between 16th and 22nd in three top-25 college baseball polls.

“Anytime you can play somebody with that kind of tradition, it's a great opportunity for our guys to gauge themselves,” B-CU coach Jason Beverlin said.
There's another reason why Beverlin wanted to play at Arizona State. It helps expand B-CU's recruiting efforts.

"There's definitely a lot of talent out there," Beverlin said. "I think it could definitely help us with name recognition of our program out west in junior colleges and high schools."
