Davis chooses Morehouse Maroon Tigers

AIKEN, South Carolina   --  Aiken’s Robert Davis chose to sign with Morehouse College to play football on Wednesday, and he’s looking forward to playing college football for a very simple reason.

“The same thing that excited me (at Aiken): I just love football,” he said.

The defensive tackle will play the same position at Morehouse, located in Atlanta, and chose the school over Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Newberry and Presbyterian for academic reasons.

“I love the academics and their great business program,” he said.


Davis was hampered by injuries this season but was still a major contributor on the Hornets’ defense. Head coach Carey Johnson said Davis’ leadership in efforts on the field, in the weight room and in his studies have earned him high praise.

“Robert’s been a four-year starter whose hard work on the football field ... and in the classroom has been great for our football team,” Johnson said. “You want your kid to be just like him.”
