WSSU gets payback against St. Aug's

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina  --  Collins, who called an earlier loss to St. Aug’s a major disappointment, was all smiles at the Gaines Center after the Rams’ 68-56 victory.

As has been the case all season, the victory wasn’t easy. The Rams led by 19 in the second half but survived going more than eight minutes without a field goal.

“We had the big lead, and I don’t want to say we were comfortable, but they picked up their intensity and started trapping us, and we were throwing the ball away,” guard Tyre Desmore of the Rams said. “But we got control, hit our free throws toward the end, and won the game.”

Tweaking his starting lineup, Collins had leading scorer Justin Glover come off the bench, and Glover responded by scoring 18 points. Wakefield Ellison added 17, and Marcus Wells had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and a steal.
