Tennessee State picked third in OVC; QB still suspended

NASHVILLE, Tennessee  --  Tennessee State was picked to finish third Monday at Ohio Valley Conference Football Media Day, and Mike German was listed as the Tigers starting quarterback.

As coach Rod Reed enters his fourth season he’s looking at both as nothing more than projections.

“Mike German is listed as the starter on paper and we’re ranked No. 3 on paper,” Reed said. “But that paper doesn’t mean anything.”

German’s status is still in limbo two weeks before the start of practice. He was suspended in March after being charged with felony vandalism. Reed said German and defensive back Joseph Johnson were charged with doing several thousand dollars worth of damage to a 2011 Ford Fiesta by dancing on its roof.

Johnson is no longer on the roster.
