SCSU Bulldogs Host FAMU Rattlers In Pivotal MEAC Showdown

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina  -- The South Carolina State Bulldogs return to action this week as they host the visiting Rattlers of Florida A&M in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown, Saturday at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium. Kick-off is 1:30 p.m.

SETTING THE SCENE: This week's Mid-Eastern Athletic conference contest between hosts South State (6-3, 4-1 MEAC) and visiting FAMU (3-6, 2-3 MEAC). Both teams are coming off huge wins in their last outing. The Bulldogs knocked off a struggling Savannah State team 45-9, meanwhile FAMU defeated Norfolk State 16-6.

The Series: This will be the 55
th meeting between the Rattlers and the Bulldogs with FAMU leading the series 31-21-2. SC State defeated FAMU in their first ever meeting in 1930, 21-7, but the Bulldogs have won the last nine of their last 10 meetings.

The Coaches: SC State's Buddy Pough (SC State '75) is in his 12th season as head coach at his alma mater and owns an 95-42 overall record. Earl Holmes (FAMU '97) is in his first season as Rattler head coach.

The Attraction: SC State is celebrating "Homecoming/Senior Day". Fifteen (15) members of the 2013 team and three students who provide support will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony. Many of them will be in today's starting lineup. We welcome the parents of our honorees and invite you to continue to support SC State and the Bulldogs.
