Talladega Lady Tornades beat second NCAA Division I opponent Arkansas Pine Bluff 77-75

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas  -- Senior Tianna Jones hit a layup with 2 seconds left as the  Lady Tornadoes knocked off the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions 77-75 Tuesday night at H.O. Clemmons Arena .

Talladega lead 75-69 3:13 in the game. A free throws and layup by UAPB tie the game at 75 with 10.1 second left in the game. Following a timeout by Talladega College, Jones took the inbound pass and ran down the left sideline before forcing up the layup – handing the Lady Lions the lost.

Talladega College, which was ranked 13th in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 poll coming into Tuesday's game, trailed by as much as 12 points in the first half. They close the half with a 14-3 run to cut the deficit to 35-34 before halftime.

Talladega was lead in by Ryann Drear with 23 points. Arielle George 18 points.  The Lady Tornadoes went 8-20 from behind the arc and 45 percent from the field.  Talladega also went 21-28 from the free throw for 75 percent.

This mark the second time this season Talladega beat NCAA Division I opponent.  On November 14 Talladega beat Samford 50-49.

Talladega 11-1 returns to action January 4 for a  home conference game against Dillard University. Tipoff at 3:00 pm.
