Gold Nuggets rank 17th, will compete Saturday at NSU

2nd consecutive GCAC women’s outdoor track and field team championship.
NEW ORLEANS -- Xavier University of Louisiana's women dropped three places to 17th in the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Team Computer Rankings announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The rankings are the third of the season. Xavier was 14th in the two earlier rankings.

The Gold Nuggets, who have not competed since repeating as Gulf Coast Athletic Conference team champion on April 12, will resume competition Saturday in the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational at Natchitoches, La. Field events will start at 10 a.m., followed by track events at 1 p.m.

It will be Xavier's sixth meet of the season.

The Gold Nuggets have met A- or B-qualifying marks in seven events for next month's NAIA National Championships.
