GRAMBLING, Louisiana — Broderick Fobbs consistently finds himself finding new, innovative ways to get the same message across to his Grambling football team.
Some days that means he relates the 2016 season as a hurdles race as to not allow the Tigers to take a big-picture approach. His logic: focus on the task at hand, or the hurdle in front.
Other times, Fobbs refers to the season as driving a car. It's his job to control the car throughout the year. Both are aimed to keep Grambling on alert for this weekend's game at Texas Southern and not the Bayou Classic in two weeks.
So which type of car is Grambling, which is amid a 16-game Southwestern Athletic Conference win streak?
"Well, I mean just a traditional car right now. At the end of the day, you have to win the crown. Until you win the crown, you can't drive that BMW or that Audi or whatever that is that you want to drive," Fobbs said Monday. "Right now, we're driving a regular car. We're not there yet. Ask me that question in a little bit."
