Cross Country:  After missing three meets because of Hurricane Ida, XULA's distance runners traveled to Lake Charles, La., for their first meet of the season, the Lake Charles Toyota Cowboy Stampede. The men did not qualify for team scoring, but the women did and finished sixth out of eight schools. The Gold Nuggets finished ahead of NCAA Division I opponents Texas Southern and Northwestern State. XULA is a longtime NAIA member. Top finishers for XULA were Skylah Barton (35th place, 21 minutes, 14.2 seconds for 5,000 meters) in the women's race and Steven Wilson (52nd place, 24:52.2 for four miles) in the men's.
