MURRAY, Ky. — In Tennessee State's first two games, the Tigers gave up a combined 600 passing yards. Against Murray State on Saturday, the Tigers defense also had trouble stopping the Racers’ passing attack, losing 58-27 in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams at Roy Stewart Stadium.
Racer quarterback Casey Brockman threw for a school-record 600 yards and seven touchdowns, going 47-of-67. He broke his previous single-game records for passing yards (570), attempts (58) and completions (41). He also tied the record for touchdowns in a game.
Racers’ receiver Patrick Robertson contributed to Brockman’s record-setting day, hauling in seven catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Brockman tied the conference touchdown mark on Robertson’s third score.
The Football Championship Subdivision record for most passes completed in a game is 57. The FCS record for passing yards in a game is 624 and passing touchdowns in a game is 9. The Racers had 630 passing yards total.
