FAMU QB Austin Trainor transfers to D-II West Georgia

TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Florida A&M took its first step to preparing for the 2012 football season Monday without quarterback Austin Trainor, who decided to transfer in hopes of landing in a starting role.

Trainor told the Democrat on Monday that he has transferred to the University of West Georgia. The Wolves compete in the Gulf South, the same Division II conference that Valdosta State plays.

Trainor, who led FAMU to six consecutive victories to finish the 2010 season as co-champion of the MEAC, lost the starting job to freshman Damien Fleming in the fourth game last season. He made cameo appearances in two other games.
