Raleigh, North Carolina — Redshirt sophomore Chris Johnson (Hampton, Va.) scored 12 points to lead a balanced attack as Saint Augustine's College tripped Virginia Union 68-58 Thursday (Jan. 12) in CIAA men's basketball action at Emery Gymnasium.
The win was the fourth straight for the Falcons (8-5, 3-0 CIAA), who finish a four-game homestand Saturday against 12th-ranked Bowie State at 4 p.m. The Falcons are 6-0 inside Emery Gymnasium this season.
Ten players scored for the Falcons, who used their depth to take command of the game. The Falcons, playing without leading scorer Joel Kindred (Raleigh, N.C.) for the second straight game, outscored the Panthers 34-11 in bench points.
Several players came off the bench to provide key minutes for the Falcons. Freshman forward Jordan Jones (Ahoskie, N.C.) scored eight points and senior guard Jeremy Banks (Elizabeth City, N.C.) added seven points.
