J.C. Smith loses assistant coaches Flowers, Minter

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Johnson C. Smith football has lost a pair of high-profile assistant coaches during the offseason.

According to campus sources, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Maurice Flowers has taken the same position at CIAA South rival Shaw while defensive passing game coordinator Mike Minter left for the special teams coordinator’s position at Liberty University (Va.), an FCS program playing in the Big South Conference. Minter’s photo and biography are on Liberty’s football website.

Flowers, a former JCSU quarterback and East Mecklenburg High graduate, turned the Golden Bulls’ offense into one of the CIAA’s best in two seasons.
