Virginia Union Trojans defeats Benedict Tigers

RICHMOND, Virginia - Senior running back Jerrell Washington rushed for two touchdowns, including a 59-yarder in the fourth quarter, as Virginia Union opened its 2012 season with a 28-7 win over Benedict at Hovey Field.

Quarterback Kenneth Graham was 14 for 27 for 154 yards and connected with Devin Anderson for a 36-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give the Panthers a lead they never relinquished.

Rasheen Person had 10 tackles and two sacks to pace Virginia Union's defense.

Chris Cooler caught at 39-yard touchdown from Chris Thomas for the Tigers
