Burlington point guard commits to WSSU

BURLINGTON, North Carolina -- Winston-Salem State’s basketball team received good news with a commitment from point guard Jamison Jeffers.

Jeffers, a 5-10 senior, told the Burlington Times-News he will attend WSSU next fall. He can sign the binding national letter of intent this spring.

The Rams (18-4) are ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II and are coming off an 81-76 win over Shaw on Wednesday night.

Coach Bobby Collins has a senior-dominated team and will lose seven players off his roster next season. Collins can’t comment on players until they sign.

Landing Jeffers, who plays at Burlington Christian Academy, should help in the backcourt next season. Point guard Marcus Wells has been a four-year starter but he will graduate this summer.

Jeffers told the Times-News that he loved the atmosphere at WSSU when he watched a game at the Gaines Center.
