SiMon Franklin
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana women's basketball standout SiMon Franklin has won her second Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor this season.

Franklin — a 5-foot-7 senior guard from Baton Rouge, La., and a 2008 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy — won the award for Feb. 4-10 after averaging 15 points, three rebounds and four steals and shooting 57.9 percent from the floor during the Gold Nuggets' 2-0 week. Her 30 aggregate points came in 49 minutes in Xavier's multi-platoon system. Franklin scored 22 points — the second 20-point game of her career — in Xavier's 61-53 victory Saturday at Philander Smith.

Franklin became the 22nd XU female to reach 200 career steals and the ninth XU female with 1,000 points, 300 rebounds and 200 steals in a career.

Xavier will visit SUNO at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Castle in a matchup of GCAC tri-leaders.
