Woods 31 Points Lift Talladega Tornadoes over Dillard Bleu Devils

NEW ORLEANS  --  Dillard entered tonight's game prepared to showcase its seniors, but instead it was Talladega's Phillip Wood who stole the show and put on a shooting clinic as he led his Tornadoes to a 68-59 victory over the Bleu Devils on senior night. Wood buried six three pointers and finished with a game-high 31 points and added 12 boards in the victory.

Dillard (2-16 overall, 1-8 GCAC) was led by freshman Tyrone Williams who finished with a team-high 23 points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes of action. Williams hit 9-of-12 shots from the field and nailed all four of his free throw attempts for Dillard.

The Bleu Devils had a solid first half and led 27-26 at the half, but the Tornadoes turned up the heat as they outscored Dillard 42-32 in the second half.

Senior Terry Church had a quiet game and finished with only two points in 11 minutes before he suffered an ankle injury which kept him sidelined for the remainder of the game. Dillard's only other senior, Kelth Cameron, picked up three first half fouls and was forced to sit out for most of the game.

Freshman Jarrain Jenkins had a solid game for the Bleu Devils and scored 18 points and grabbed six boards while sophomore Jordan Kilson finished with seven points, two rebounds, five assists, five turnovers and one steal in 32 minutes of action.

On Saturday, February 9, Dillard continues conference play as they travel to Nashville to face Fisk University. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m.
