S.C. State band leader selected IMA guest conductor

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina  -- Eddie Ellis, director of bands at South Carolina State University, has been selected to serve as guest conductor for the 54th annual Intercollegiate Music Association’s Conference at Norfolk State University next February.

Ellis said he was “totally taken by surprise” when IMA President Dr. Adolph E. Wright issued the invitation.

“The highest honor one can receive is one of commendation by your peers,” Ellis said. “Whenever you are asked to be a guest conductor for a conference it is an honor. This very prestigious invitation is one that I will cherish.”

Ellis is responsible for all band programs and activities at S.C. State, where he has conducted the symphonic band, the wind ensemble and the Marching 101 Band.
