Shouppe among 3 finalists for FAMU baseball job

TALLAHASSEE, Florida  --  FAMU has narrowed its search for a new head baseball coach to three candidates, including former interim coach Brett Richardson and former Florida State associate head coach Jamey Shouppe.

Both names, along with that of Santa Fe assistant coach Bruce Larkin, will be sent to Larry Robinson, interim president at FAMU, by the end of this week, said interim athletic director Michael Smith.

Smith said a new coach should be named within a week.

Smith headed up the searched committee, which began its work shortly after the Rattlers’ season ended in May.

Smith stressed on Monday that new coach must have a solid understanding of the urgency in turning the program around, knowledge of FAMU culture and the community.
