VUU, VSU not deterred by preseason picks of 8th, 10th, respectivelyWINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Winston-Salem State’s football team will enter the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association season as it has ended the previous two — No. 1.
On Thursday, the two-time defending conference champion and reigning Division II runner-up was picked by conference coaches to capture the title during media day at the Donald J. Reaves Student Activities Center at WSSU.
“We don’t really like to talk about the past because that season is over with, that team is gone,” said Rams coach Connell Maynor.
“We’re going to be playing with possibly 30 less players who played last year and won’t be playing this year.”
