NSU opens practice with QB situation up in the air

NORFOLK, Virginia  --  The biggest question facing Norfolk State as fall football camp opened Monday only got bigger.

Senior quarterback Nico Flores, who was expected to have an edge in the four-man battle to earn the starting job, is out indefinitely as he attempts to clear up academic issues, Spartans coach Pete Adrian said.

Flores was not on the field as NSU opened practice under a bright morning sky, but the other three candidates - and a newcomer at running back - were.

"The cupboard's not bare," Adrian said. "That's the whole key."
