Morehouse wins a wild Chicago Football Classic

CHICAGO, Illinois  -- Start with two desperate, winless Division II teams, add a new offensive coordinator for one side, a third-string freshman quarterback for the other. Then bring them to Soldier Field. What do you get?

Chaos. Lots of it.

In a game with two blocked kicks, four missed field goals and an interception returned for a touchdown by a 310-pound defensive lineman, Morehouse prevailed 42-20 against Central State on Saturday in the Chicago Football Classic, an annual game featuring historically black colleges and universities.

Freshman Monqavious Johnson showed flashes of talent and dashes of inexperience as he guided the Maroon Tigers (1-2, 1-0 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) to a much-needed first win.

"I just went out there, remained calm, kept my composure and just had fun," he said. "I need to limit my mistakes and capitalize off the opponents' mistakes."
