MSU Captures Hornet Invitational; Seymour Wins Second Straight Race

DOVER, Delaware (Sept. 15, 2013) -- Morgan State's Ashley Seymour extended her winning streak to two straight, as she led the Lady Bears to a first-place finish on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational hosted by Delaware State.

Seymour ran a winning time of 17:53.27 to lead Morgan State, which had runners capture the first five spots and seven of the top 10. Ishakeema Swain finished second with a time of 18:10.65 and Kali Kendall placed third in a time of 18:55.73. Nynneya Columbus (19:04.40) and Jada Boyd (19:30.10) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

"We had a very impressive show with the women this weekend," said Morgan State head coach Neville Hodge. "We are looking to continue to work to get better each and every week with the goal to be at our best come championship time."

The Lady Bears would finish with 15 points and an average time of 18:42.83, while Division 3 Wesley also had 15 points, but an average time of 22:29.57. Maryland Eastern Shore finished second with 61 points, followed by host Delaware State (75 points) and Coppin State (95 points).

Morgan State returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when it takes part in the Towson Invitational.
