WSSU Notes: Johnson thriving as starting QB

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina  -- Somebody asked Coach Connell Maynor who his starting quarterback will be on Saturday against Bowie State, but it’s been obvious for a while that Rudy Johnson, who is 3-0 as a starter after taking over from Anthony Carrothers, is the main guy.

Maynor, however, was diplomatic when the question was asked.

"Rudy is the starter, of course, and he had four touchdown passes in the first half and I pulled him and played Anthony and DeShean Townsend in the second half. Overall, we had seven passing touchdowns so that’s good production from all three.”

In his three starts, Johnson has completed 39 of 60 passes for 626 yards and seven touchdowns; he’s been intercepted once.
