South Carolina State University football player shot dead on Orangeburg campus, 4 suspects on the loose

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina  -- A manhunt is underway for four suspects after a student was shot dead around 1:30 p.m. on the South Carolina State University campus in Orangeburg on Friday.  Brandon A. Robinson, 20, was taken to a local hospital after being shot outside the Hugine Suites, a dorm complex on campus. He later died.

Robinson was a defensive lineman on the school's football team. The 6-foot tall, 230 pound redshirt junior was a defensive lineman for the Bulldogs.

Police have yet to reveal a motive for the murder.  The entire campus was on lockdown as police pursued ...

S.C. State football player killed; four sought in manhunt

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina  --  A South Carolina State University football player was shot and killed outside Hugine Suites the day before his stepfather's funeral.

Brandon A. Robinson, 20, of Goff Ave., Orangeburg, was shot at about 2 p.m. Friday. The S.C. State football roster says he was an Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School graduate.

The autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday, the same day as the funeral for his stepfather, Steven Rolley Sr.

"South Carolina State University is saddened today. We are saddened by the loss of one of our own students," President Thomas Elzey said in a release. "Our deepest condolences go to the family of the victim."
