Broken light forces WSSU-J.C. Smith game to end in a tie

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina  -- The always lively Winston-Salem State-Johnson C. Smith rivalry found a new level on Wednesday night at Brayboy Gymnasium.  

A tie game.


Yes, in what is a first in the 53-year history of the historic gym the Rams and Golden Bulls were tied at 76 at the end of regulation thanks to a Javan Wells follow basket for the Rams. After Wells made the shot the Bulls’ Joshua Linson tried a heave of 75 feet but his high throw hit off two lights and knocked them out and one of the lights was left hanging by a wire.
