CIAA Sports Information Directors Announce 2014 All-Rookie Basketball Teams

HAMPTON, Virginia  -- The 2014 CIAA Basketball All-Rookie Teams along with their respective Rookies of the Year have been announced as selected by the CIAA Sports Information Directors' Association.

The 2014 CIAA Women's Rookie of the Year is Courtni Williams of Chowan University. Named the CIAA Rookie of the Week four times this season, Williams, a native of Chesapeake, VA, has had an outstanding rookie campaign having made 23 starts at point guard. She has scored double-digit points 10 times (in games through 2/21) and has only fouled out twice over the entire season.

Ray Anderson of Virginia Union University has been voted the 2014 CIAA Men's Rookie of the Year. A native of Wilmington, DE, Anderson has been tabbed as the CIAA Rookie of the Week four times this season. He is the Panthers' second leading scorer averaging 14.6 points while shooting 46.8% from the field. He has tallied double figures in all but five games this season and started the season with a career high 32 points against Tuskegee University.

The Men's and Women's All-Rookie Basketball teams will be honored at the tip off luncheon in Charlotte, NC at next week's CIAA Basketball Tournament.
