Bethune-Cookman fends off Florida Tech upset bid, 34-33



DAYTONA BEACH, Florida  Florida Tech traveled to Daytona Beach to pull off an upset.

The Panthers came within one play of accomplishing their mission.

Bethune-Cookman thwarted FIT's 2-point conversion attempt with 19 seconds left and escaped the second-year Division II program's upset bid with a 34-33 victory Saturday at Municipal Stadium.
“All I know is we won,” B-CU coach Brian Jenkins said. “Good, bad, ugly, whatever. A win is a win. I don't think at the end of the day they judge how pretty the win was.”
For a while, it looked like Florida Tech (3-1) would celebrate with a big victory for the second consecutive week. The Panthers knocked off D-II No. 12 Tarleton State on Sept. 20. This time, they set their aim on the 14th-ranked Division I FCS Wildcats.
