MSU Cody Acker named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, Maryland -- Morgan State standout linebacker Cody Acker was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's defensive player of the week, the conference announced Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound senior form Landover, Maryland posted a personal-best 19 tackles Saturday at Eastern Michigan. The senior also had a tackle for a loss.

The 19 tackles represents the most by a Bear since linebacker Elandon Roberts posted 19 stops against Hampton on Nov. 17, 2012.

Acker's previous highest tackle performance was last season at North Carolina Central where he recorded 15 tackles on October 13.

Acker becomes the first Bear to earn player of the week accolades this season.

Morgan State will face Holy Cross on the road for the Crusdaer's home-opener on Saturday (Sept. 6). Kick-off at Fitton Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
