WATCH IN 1080p HD, WIDE SCREEN
ORANGEBURG, South Carolina -- Members of the Marching 101 Band of S.C. State University are gearing up to make their television debut in the Video Hits One (VH1) upcoming original movie “Drumline: A New Beat.”
The film will premiere on the cable television network at 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27.
The storyline is similar to the original “Drumline” movie that aired in 2002. The sequel follows prospective band members throughout their journey of making the prominent Atlanta A&T drumline.
The filming experience has been memorable for members of the Marching 101, who will appear in the film wearing the Atlanta A&T uniforms as extras and doubles.
Lacyona Muldrow, a senior music industry major, will serve as the double for lead actress Alexandra Shipp’s character, Danielle “Dani” Raymond. Initially, the Florence native, who has 20 years of experience playing the drums, was skeptical about traveling to Atlanta to audition.
