Southern men try to extend streak

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- The Southern men’s basketball team played 18 games before it managed to win two games in a row.

It extended that streak to three when it beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-60 on Saturday, and it will look to make it four in a row when it plays Mississippi Valley State on Monday in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Tip-off if 8 p.m. and the game will be televised by CST.

“For the first time, we have a few wins in a row. And I think any time that happens, you start feeling good about yourselves,” Jaguars coach Roman Banks said. “We want to turn feeling good about ourselves into working to get better and not just being happy with where we are.”

Southern is 7-12 and 4-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Delta Devils are 2-15 and 1-3 after an 87-67 loss at Alcorn State on Saturday.
