BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- Prairie View took advantage of Southern’s pitching and defensive miscues to beat the Jaguars 8-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference opener for both teams Friday afternoon at Lee-Hines Field.Southern put 12 Panthers runners on base via walks and hit batsmen and committed five errors. Starter Santos Saldivar (0-2) lasted just a third of an inning after three times walking batters with the bases loaded.
Jose De La Torre had a sacrifice fly, and Nkosi Djehuti-Mes hit an RBI double for the Jaguars.
