Defense may give Lincoln hope

LOWER OXFORD, Pennsylvania -- As Lincoln heads into its eighth season since resurrecting football following a 47-year hiatus from 1961-2007, an overriding theme has developed under interim head coach Herb Pickens.

The Lions have faced plenty of adversity on the gridiron in the modern era – winning just 10 of 70 contests. But the LU program is now focused its collective attention on how to more effectively react to the misfortune and hardship that inevitably pops up during every game in every season.

“Our mindset is to expect the unexpected, and keep prevailing through regardless,” said defensive standout Brion Robinson.

“Penalties, turnovers are going to happen – that’s football,” added star runner Stephen Scott added. “What we’ve been working on is being able to persevere through all of that stuff.”
