FVSU Beaten by Florida Tech 34-7

FORT VALLEY, Georgia -- It was not Fort Valley State University night as they honored their senior's in a 34-7 non-conference loss to Florida Tech University out of the Gulf South Conference at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats drop to 4-3 overall, 4-0 in the SIAC and Florida Tech moves to 4-3 in the GSC.

The Wildcats went to halftime down 24-0, after Florida Tech scored at will. With 9:05 in the 1st Drake Hillman kicked a 21-yard field goal and Gary Holmes scored twice from 1 and 2-yards out for a 17-0 score with 8:51 left in the 2nd. Then, with 2:26 remaining in the 2nd Mark Cato connected with Kenny Johnson on a 71-yard touchdown pass, Hillman kick was good (24-0).

Hillman kicked his second field goal from 38-yards to increase the Panthers score in the 3rd at the 12:25 mark. Antwuan Haynes capped off the scoring with a 76-yard punt return, Hillman kick was good (34-0).

The Wildcats 7-points came on freshman quarterback Deion Perry 27-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Drelon Freeman with 4:18 left in the game, completing a 6-play, 50-yard drive, sophomore punter/kicker Juan Serna kick was good (7-34).

The Wildcats managed 26-yards on the ground and 142-yards of passing for 168-yards of total offense. Florida Tech added 289-yards in rushing, 206-yards passing and 495 total yards of offense.

The Wildcats sophomore running back Jermaine Tate had 18-yards in rushing and Perry threw for 141-yards, one touchdown on 15-of-31 attempts and one interception. Senior wide receiver Jevon Bell led the team with 7 catches for 73-yards.

Holmes led the Panthers with 103-yards on 10 carries, while Cato completed 8-of-19 passes and one interception for 187-yards and one touchdown. Manny Adad had 79-yards on 4 catches to lead FIT.

Defensively, junior defensive end Aaron Davis had 9 tackles and one quarterback hurry, while senior linebacker's Stefon Harper and justin Wright had 8 tackles apiece.

akup.

The Wildcats are off next week, as they prepare for homecoming and the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College on Saturday, October 31st at 2 p.m.
