UAPB's Sorensen ready for second start at Jackson

JACKSON, Mississippi -- Despite having nearly two weeks between games, Nolan Sorensen didn’t know until three days before Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s game against Alabama State that he would be the Golden Lions’ starting quarterback.

It’s easy to say he’s prepared each week as though he’s going to be a starter, especially considering he’d seen action in all but one game while backing up Marcus Terrell. However, each of those previous games, he knew he was going in as the backup and would be able to basically scout the defense while Terrell was on the field.

Starting from the first whistle is a whole lot different. So is having a full week of knowing you’re the starter leading into a crucial game, or in this case nine days prior to Saturday’s game at 2 p.m. at Jackson State.

“I’m really excited heading into this week against Jackson State, you know, we both have the same record,” Sorensen said of the 1-5 teams. “It’s their homecoming, so they’re going to come out ready to play and so are we, so hopefully that will be a better game for us.”
