SCSU stops Norfolk State, 17-10

NORFOLK, Virginia — Redshirt junior quarterback Adrian Kollock Jr., in his first start since the season opener, directed two long fourth-quarter scoring drives to lift South Carolina State to a 17-10 come-from-behind win over Norfolk State Saturday at William “Dick” Price Stadium.

Kollock, who started in place of freshman Caleb York, who is out for the season after being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder following last week’s contest against North Carolina A&T, directed scoring drives of 79 and 76 yards in the final stanza to erase a 10-3 Spartan lead.



The Spartanburg native, who was injured Sept. 6 in the season opener against Arkansas Pine Bluff, and was replaced as the starter by York, completed 25 of 40 attempts for 255 yards and one score, an eight-yard scoring pass to fullback Dondre Brown with 7:36 left. Tyler Scandrett’s point after touchdown tied the contest at 10-10. Kollock completed all eight of his pass attempts and had a two-yard run on the drive.

After stopping the Spartans on their next possession and forcing a punt, the Bulldogs took over on their own 24. Kollock went to work again, connecting on seven of eight attempts, including a 34-yard completion to Taquan West, which gave S.C.
