AAMU Bulldogs face Auburn, MTSU in upcoming football season

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- The Alabama A&M football team will kick off the 2016 season at Middle Tennessee State and wrap up the season on the Plains at Auburn, as the Bulldogs released their schedule Monday.

The season starts in Murfreesboro on Sept. 3 and ends Nov. 19 at Auburn to bookend the schedule with the two Football Bowl Subdivision programs.

The home schedule includes Prairie View A&M on Sept. 17 for the Louis Crews Classic; Southern University on Sept. 24; Alcorn State for Homecoming on Oct. 8; and Grambling State on Nov. 5.

The Magic City Classic is Oct. 29. A&M is the home team this year for the annual showdown in Birmingham with Alabama State.

"As usual, we have a highly competitive SWAC schedule sandwiched by two quality FBS opponents," said Head Football Coach James Spady. "The 2016 football schedule will truly test our football team and we are eager to begin preparing."

The Bulldogs will be on the road at MTSU on Sept. 3; Mississippi Valley State (Sept. 10); Texas Southern (Oct. 1); Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Oct. 15; Jackson State
(Nov. 12); and Auburn (Nov. 19).
