Gold Nuggets tied for 13th after dropping two places

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana fell two places Tuesday and is tied for 13th in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
     
The poll is the second of the season. The Gold Nuggets (1-2) share their position with Lewis-Clark State. The ranking is Xavier's lowest since Jan. 29, 2013, when it was 13th.
     
Xavier is in the top 25 for the 32nd consecutive time and the 77th time in the last 87 polls. The Gold Nuggets are among the top 15 for the 29th straight time.
     
Defending champion Auburn Montgomery received 13-of-14 first-place votes and remained No. 1.
     
Next for the Gold Nuggets will be three ranked opponents in the Green and Gray Invitational at Lawrenceville Ga. — 3 p.m. EST Friday against No. 4 SCAD Savannah, 3 p.m. EST Saturday against No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett and 10 a.m. EST Sunday against No. 12 Cumberland. The Gold Nuggets' next home dual will start at noon March 5 at XU Tennis Center against No. 22 LSU-Alexandria.
