FAMU splits road series, beats FIU, 8-4

MIAMI, Florida -- Florida A&M entered Wednesday’s game looking to redeem itself after dropping game one of its two-game series here with FIU.

The Rattlers accomplished their goal.

FAMU (4-5) scored in the first five innings to defeat FIU, 8-4, Wednesday afternoon at the FIU ballpark.



The Rattlers out-hit FIU 9-7, with four players - Jordan Curtis, John Capra, Kaycee Reese andd Brett Maxwell - finishing with two hits each. Capra and Jacky Miles Jr. each knocked in two runs.

Starter Josh Wilson earned his first victory, allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings.

Jeremiah McCollum closed out the sixth inning and recorded two outs in the seventh without giving up a run. Jamie Grant recorded the last out of the seventh and went on to throw a scoreless eighth before giving way to Dylan Carlson in the ninth.

The Rattlers drew first blood in this one, putting up two runs in the first inning.
