Langston Volleyball Sweeps Bears To Open Season

HAVILAND, Kansas – The Langston University volleyball team opened the season on a high note by knocking off the Barclay College Bears 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) on Tuesday night in Haviland, Kansas.

The Lady Lions came out early and didn't relent in the 25-17 set one victory; Langston managed to collect victories in sets two and three by a final count of 25-16 and 25-17.

Langston clinches a season-opening victory for the first time in program history.

Looking at the Stats …
Brittani Bailey and Serena Torres anchored the Lady Lions attack with eight and six kills respectively; Lashon Chew wasn't far behind, finishing third on the team in kills with five.

Jada Roland led Langston in assists with 12 and Jordyne Bigan tallied a team-high five digs.

Up Next?
Langston (1-0) turns their attention to conference play by traveling to Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, Texas on Aug. 31. The Lady Lions first home match is scheduled for Sept. 4 against Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Oklahoma City.
