Delaware State Equestrian Falls To No. 6 TCU in Season Opener

Fort Worth, Texas -- Texas Christian proved why it has one of the top women’s equestrian teams in the country with a 15-4 victory over Delaware State in the Hornets’ 2018-19 opener in the Lone Star State today.

The No. 6 Horned Frogs posted an 8-2 win in the Hunt Seat competition and were 7-2 winners in the Western rides. TCU also collected the four Most Outstanding Rider awards.

Delaware State was edged 3-2 in Equitation over Fences, although the Hornets won the raw scoring 369-351. Gabrielle Fourneir (78 on "Biggie") and Zoe Kirsch (68 on "Mabel") won in Fences for DSU, while Sydney Wicklund had a team-best score of 79 aboard “Fats.”

The Hornets also collected two wins in Horsemanship. Shelbe Jarrett, riding on “Flash,” earned a point with a score of 73, while DSU’s Elizabeth Lynch was a winner with 69.5 points on “Willy2.”

Kelsey McArthur led all Delaware State Western riders with a score of 73.5.

Delaware State will continue its Texas swing with competitions in Waco against Baylor and Fresno State on Friday (Sep. 28).
