NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana participated Wednesday in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Day of Service. Members of the 2018-19 team spent two hours beautifying the garden at St. Margaret's Hospice Care and visiting with residents.
"It was really relaxing," said Shae Johnson, a freshman forward/center from Riverside, Calif. "It made me feel like I was back home. My mom and I do a lot of gardening together. So I felt connected to her even though we are so many miles away. It felt good to give back to the community."
Coach Bo Browder's Gold Nuggets will open the season at 6 p.m. Oct. 31 against Stillman at XULA's Convocation Center.
