Crockett-Moulton named Florida Memorial head women's volleyball coach

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida — Florida Memorial Athletic Director Ernest T. Jones recently announced the hiring of Marrita Crockett-Moulton as the head coach of the women's volleyball program.

"I am very excited to announce Marrita as our new head women's volleyball coach. She comes to us highly recommended with a pedigree that speaks for itself," said Jones. "She will add value and credibility to the Department of Athletics at Florida Memorial University. She is committed to the values and mission of the University and will make an immediate impact on the lives of our women."

Crockett-Moulton was the first person hired under Jones and arrives at Florida Memorial after spending four years as the FIU beach volleyball assistant coach (2012-16) and one season as the FIU assistant volleyball coach (2018).

During this past year in her role as an assistant coach, she helped lead the Panthers to the Conference USA conference finals where the team finished as the runner-ups in the championship.

"I am very excited to be the head coach at FMU," Crockett-Moulton said. "I bring a lot of experience to the game, and with the players I have, I believe that we are going to be a force in the conference. I am also excited that I will have the opportunity to coach beach volleyball as well. It is my goal to build FMU into a powerhouse indoor and on the beach."

In 2016, Crockett-Moulton was honored with an AVCA 30 Under 30 Coaches award, which was given to recognize her efforts with FIU where she appeared in four national championships along with a Final Four appearance.

Before becoming an assistant coach with the Panthers, Crockett-Moulton spent a portion of the 2012 campaign as the strength and conditioning coach for FIU.

Crockett-Moulton reached FIU from Hawaii Pacific University, where she served as a graduate assistant coach in 2011. During that same year, she also spent time as the interim head coach for Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla.

She previously coached in the high school ranks as an assistant with Maclay High in 2010 where she helped lead the team to a Final Four State Championship appearance.

In 2009-10, Crockett-Moulton coached as an assistant for Florida State University and helped the Seminoles reach the Florida Region Elite Eight.

The newly appointed Lions head coach also possesses multiple years of camp experience as she spent seven years (2005-11) as an assistant director and head coach for the North Florida Volleyball Academy.

During her stint with the program, Crockett-Moulton was named the Coach of the Year at NFVA in 2007 as well as the Florida Region Coach of the Year in 2008.

Crockett-Moulton began her collegiate volleyball career with Florida State (2005-06) where she started as an outside hitter her freshman season in 13 of 17 matches for the Seminoles.

Following her stint with FSU, she arrived at Florida A&M (2006-07) and helped fuel her squad to claim a MEAC Championship along with an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Crockett-Moulton graduated from Florida A&M in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and also has a Master's degree in recreation and sports management from FIU.

After completing a collegiate career at Florida State and Florida A&M, Crockett-Moulton enjoyed a professional volleyball career in Switzerland.

As a standout outside hitter for VBC Cheseaux (2008-09), Crockett-Moulton managed to earn a spot on the Swiss All-Star Team while her team ended the season ranked sixth in the country.
