Riggs, Riley, Williams earn USTFCCCA academic honors

Xavier University of Louisiana women's track and fieldNEW ORLEANS — Three women from Xavier University of Louisiana — Justyce RiggsRaven Riley and Alexis Williams — have earned All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
     
The USTFCCCA announced the honors Monday.
     

Riggs, Riley and Williams qualified because of cumulative GPAs of at least 3.25 and meeting A- or B-standards for the 2019 NAIA National Outdoor Championships.
     

Riggs (400-meter relay) and Williams (1,600 relay) earned All-America at NAIA nationals and helped coach Yhann Plummer's Gold Nuggets achieve their highest-ever team finish, 23rd.
     

Riggs, from Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and a graduate of Choctawhatchee High School, will be a senior business management major at XULA in 2019-20. Riley (New Orleans, Lusher Charter School, biology / pre-medical) and Williams (Luling, La., Hahnville High School, biomedical engineering / biology) will be sophomores.
