Last November, Delaware State announced they would launch the first D1 HBCU women’s wrestling program, which begins this upcoming school year.
Morgan State revived its men’s wrestling program, becoming the sole DI HBCU to field a men’s team. The following year, the Bears hired Kenny Monday, the first Black wrestler to win an Olympic gold medal, as its head coach.
At 6, Erin Golston knew she wanted to be an Olympic wrestler.

At 15, she moved to Michigan where she was alone, the youngest wrestler and one of the few Black people in town.
Now, after questioning her love of wrestling, she's found it again.
