Barlow Names Four to ASU Hornet Coaching Staff

MONTGOMERY – Alabama State head football coach Reggie Barlow has named four new coaches to his staff.

 Fred Kaiss joins the staff as offensive coordinator/running backs coach, Shannon Harris as wide receivers coach, Willard Scissum as offensive line coach, and Dominique Stevenson as safeties coach.

“With success, sometimes things change and we had some success this year,” said fifth-year head coach Reggie Barlow of his team which won the SWAC Eastern Division championship last season. ”We had a few guys that had an opportunity to move on to other positions. All in all, we have four really good guys we've brought into the fold that we think can give us what we need to take care of unfinished business.”

Hornets Begin Spring Practice

MONTGOMERY—Alabama State University's football team held the first of 15 practice sessions today with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement as the Hornets look to build on their 2010 SWAC Eastern Division Championship.

“It was a good first day,” head coach Reggie Barlow said. “The guys worked hard and did well on the first day. It was not hot and we were in helmets so we were able to get some things done.”

The Hornets welcomed some new faces on the coaching staff, but Coach Cedric Thornton is back to run the ASU defense and there were not a lot of changes on that side of the ball.

Texas-San Antonio to open NCAA Tournament play against Alabama State on Wednesday night

INDIANAPOLIS — The UTSA men's basketball team learned its NCAA Tournament destination and opponent on Sunday evening and the Southland Conference Tournament Champion Roadrunners will square off against Alabama State, which won this weekend's Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament. The two squads will play at 5:40 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday at UD Arena as part of the newly-created "First Four" games on the campus of the University of Dayton.

UTSA, winners of five consecutive outings in the last 11 days, will bring a 19-13 overall record into its fourth "Big Dance" appearance in program history and first since 2004 (1988, '99 are the others). The No. 7 seed Roadrunners earned the Southland's automatic bid following their 75-72 championship game victory against top-seeded McNeese State on Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Devin Gibson was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player and he was joined on the All-Tournament Team by freshman Jeromie Hill.

Hornets To Face Texas-San Antonio In NCAA Tournament

The Alabama State men's basketball team will face Texas-San Antonio in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. central time in Dayton, Ohio. The two teams will be a part of the newly created “First Four” games on the campus of the University of Dayton.

The Hornets emerged from the fourth seed in the Farmers Insurance SWAC Tournament to win the title and the league's automatic berth for the fourth time in school history and second time in three seasons.

“We're excited to have an opportunity to be in the NCAA Tournament again,” Hornets' head coach Lewis Jackson said. “It's great for our players, Alabama State University, the community of Montgomery and people around the city and the state. Guys will have the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Tournament again and that's big. That's as high as it gets, and we're excited about being in it.”

Alabama State (17-17) enters the NCAA's as one of the nation's hottest teams, being victorious 11 of their last 12 games. That lone loss, a 74-73 decision at Grambling on March 5, was avenged in the tournament championship game Saturday night with a 65-48 win over the Tigers.

TSU headed to NIT, will face Colorado in Boulder on Wednesday

HOUSTON – The Texas Southern Tigers had high hopes heading in this past week’s SWAC Conference tournament. They dreamed of playing in the Final Four. Alabama State ruined those plans last Friday night with a 73-66 victory in the semifinals, ending the Tigers chance at making it to the NCAA Tournament.

There isn’t much consolation for that crushing loss, but TSU’s season isn’t over just yet. On Wednesday, the Tigers (19-12) will head to Boulder, Colorado to take on the Buffaloes in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament.



TSU's Harvey to be Named SWAC Coach of the Year

HOUSTON - The Southwestern Athletic Conference will name Texas Southern men's basketball coach Tony Harvey as the SWAC Coach of the Year on Monday. TSU won the SWAC regular season championship and lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament to eventual champion Alabama State.

"It's a great honor," Harvey said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I'm really excited. I'm blessed and I'm thankful. "It's tears of joy." Harvey said he won the award for TSU which has given him great support.

Texas Southern draws Colorado in NIT

The Texas Southern Tigers fell just short of reaching the NCAA Tournament after bowing out to Alabama State on Friday in the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.
But their consolation prize — an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament — represents a milestone for a program that hasn’t reached the postseason since the 2003, when it advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers (19-12), who were the SWAC’s regular-season champions, were named a No. 8 seed in the NIT and will face top-seeded Colorado (21-13) at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colo.

Alabama State Beats Grambling State, Wins SWAC, NCAA Bid

ASU Coach Lewis Jackson and the Hornets are rolling to the Big Dance

GARLAND, Texas - Tremayne Moorer scored 14 points and Tramaine Butler added 13, lifting Alabama State to a 65-48 victory over Grambling on Saturday night to win the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

The Hornets are sure to be a low seed considering they are only 17-17. At least they have momentum going for them — they were 6-16 at the start of February, but head into the tournament on an 11-1 run. This victory avenged their only loss in their recent spurt, a one-pointer on the road in the regular-season finale.

Grambling (12-21) reached the SWAC tournament finals for the first time on a big roll of its own, winning nine of 11. The sixth-seeded Tigers led 28-26 at halftime, then fell apart.

Grambling falls, 65-48

The red-hot Grambling basketball team's fire finally burned out in the second half of the SWAC tournament championship game. The Tigers led Alabama State by two points at halftime, but were badly out-played in the second half and lost 65-48 at the Special Events Center in Garland, Texas.

The second half opened with GSU leading 28-26, and Alabama State quickly tied the game at 30-30 after a jump shot from Shareif Adamu. A Tramaine Butler layup gave the Hornets the lead, and from that point the lead only continued to grow.



ASU Throttles Grambling; Wins SWAC Tournament Championship

Garland, Tx. –Alabama State defeated Grambling State 65-48 at the Special Events Center in the 2011 Farmers Insurance Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament Championship. The victory gave Lewis Jackson his second conference tournament crown in his six years as head coach and the school's fourth.

ASU led 10-4 at the 15 minute mark of the first half. GSU responded with a pair of layups each from Justin Patton and Donald Qualls tying the game at 10 apiece. Qualls scored 35 points the night prior in the semi-finals against Jackson State. He finished with only 12 points on the night to lead Grambling.

Grambling's first lead came off of a Peter Robinson jump hook to make the score 22-20, with just under seven minutes to play before halftime. Four free throws later from Qualls and all of a sudden GSU led 26-20. The biggest deficit the hornets would see all tournament long.

Larry Smith out as Alcorn State's basketball coach‎

LORMAN, Mississippi -- Alcorn State has announced that Larry Smith will not return for a fourth season as head basketball coach at his alma mater, but will take a new role as director of athletic development.

Alcorn President Brown announces promotions in Athletics and Advancement

Alcorn State University announces the promotion of Larry Smith’80, distinguished alumni, former NBA player and Braves head basketball coach is moving from the court floor to the front office. Smith is the new director of athletic development and will be reporting to Stephen L. McDaniel, vice president of Institutional Advancement.

“He is just a very solid athletic personality who has a good track record of working with and developing players,” says Dr. Norris Allen Edney, current acting dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. “He is a level-headed person of high character. It is always good to have a strong presence in the front office.”

“Coach Smith has a great deal of fundraising experience,” says President M. Christopher Brown II, Ph.D. “His experience and relationships will align perfectly with the restructuring of Institutional Advancement and give the University a strong advantage.” Brown also referenced the need to construct a facility named in honor of legendary former Alcorn Football Coach Marino Casem. Smith is extremely optimistic about his newest challenge on behalf of Alcorn athletics.

Recently, Dr. Ruth Nichols, former special assistant to the president, joined Institutional Advancement as the director of external relations. “Alcorn has many talented employees and our goal is to find individuals with experiences in complimentary areas,” says Vice President McDaniel. “I am grateful to Dr. Brown for his leadership and knowing the importance of fundraising in advancing the University’s mission.”

Another significant appointment President Brown announced today is the transfer and promotion of Shundera Perteet to business manager for the Department of Athletics. Perteet has more than a decade of experience in University administration in the offices of the Executive Vice President and Academic Affairs. Her initial responsibilities will include the 2012 academic budget and finalization of ticket packages for the upcoming Alcorn athletic season.

Smith, a 1980 alum with a bachelor’s degree in business, spent 13 seasons (1980-1993) in the NBA, playing for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs. Smith received NBA All-Rookie Team Honors in 1981, and became one of the best rebounders in the 1980s. He had career averages of 9.2 rebounds and 25.9 minutes per game.

He worked as an assistant coach with the Rockets in 1993-94 and 1994-95, helping them capture their back-to-back NBA titles. After serving as the head coach of the Anaheim Arsenal and as an assistant coach for the Austin Toros during the 2006-07 NBA D-League season, Smith was hired to be an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association for the 2008 season. In May 2008 he was hired to be the head coach for Alcorn.

Senior Women Administrator LLJuna Weir will lead the search committee for the selection of a new head basketball coach. “Alcorn believes in excellence,” says Weir. “We are committed to this process and have the full support of the University administration.”

Southern University women advance to SWAC final, 78-53

GARLAND, Texas — With four minutes left in a 78-53 blowout victory of Mississippi Valley State, facing heavy pressure in the backcourt, Southern University guard Ashley Augerson noticed a longtime teammate breaking free. Augerson heaved an end-to-end pass toward Aerica Hicks, a fifth-year senior who’s known for her defense — not for filling up the box score.

Nonetheless, Hicks hauled in Augerson’s pass, then scored on a layup — just as she was fouled from behind. She completed the three-point play, and the Jaguars bench erupted. By then, they had all but wrapped up a big win in the semifinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s tournament.

By then, they knew they’d play Saturday for another championship.

Grambling State Storms Back To Upset Jackson State

The Grambling State Tigers just aren't quite ready to call it a season.

As the calendar was turning from January to February, the Grambling season appeared to be lost. Their record was 3-17, with a 1-8 mark in SWAC play. Somewhere, a switch was flipped. The Tigers won seven of their final nine contests, entered the SWAC tournament as the #6-seed, and promptly knocked off #3-seed Mississippi Valley State.

So Grambling wasn't going to let a measly 10-point halftime deficit against #2-seed Jackson State slow them down. They stormed back to score 41 second-half points, force overtime at a 66-all tie, and kept right on rolling to an 81-75 win in Friday's SWAC semi-final.



J-State unravels at end, bids season goodbye

GARLAND, TEXAS — They milled around the hotel lobby, some slouching on couches, others leaning against walls and a few walking around aimlessly - their faces in a blank stare, pointing at the ground.

Moments ago, the Jackson State basketball team had its season end in a most revolting fashion: The No. 2-seeded Tigers blew a late double-digit lead. They committed a flurry of late fouls and turnovers. They allowed a missed free throw to be put back to force overtime.

And they lost to No. 6-seeded Grambling 81-75 in overtime Friday in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals - a wild game not to be erased from their memory banks for some time.

TSU Tigers upset in semifinals by Alabama State

GARLAND, TX - The Texas Southern Tigers believed they had the talent, drive and fortitude to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003. They certainly had the bravado. But they didn't have quite enough time to get past Alabama State in the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

The top-seeded Tigers fell behind by a huge margin in the first half and came up short in their attempt at a furious second-half comeback, falling 73-66 to the fourth-seeded Hornets on Friday night at the Special Events Center.

Alabama State (16-17) moves on to face Grambling State in today's SWAC championship game. TSU, on the other hand, is destined for the National Invitation Tournament after winning the SWAC regular-season title but failing to capture the tournament championship and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA.

GARLAND, Texas -- The Alabama State men's basketball team dominated the first half against Texas Southern and held on for a 73-66 win, advancing to the Farmers Insurance SWAC Tournament Championship game. For the second straight game, the Hornets never trailed.

ASU jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game. After TSU responded with a 7-0 spurt of its own, the Hornets' Jeffery Middlebrooks and Ivory White hit a pair of 3-pointers pointers each.

Tremayne Moorer and Kenderek Washington also chipped in as ASU built a 19-point lead in the first half.

Alabama State, Texas Southern primed for SWAC semifinal showdown

GARLAND, TX – Alabama State primed itself for a showdown with No. 1 seed Texas Southern by handling Alabama A&M, 81-61, in Thursday’s quarterfinals of the Farmers Insurance SWAC Tournament.

Alabama State opened up a 20-point lead midway through the second half and had four players score in double figures, led by Tramaine Butler with 21. Alabama State shot 60.9 percent in the second half and finished with a 40-24 rebounding edge.

Fourth-seeded Alabama State (15-17) will meet Texas Southern in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Friday at the Special Events Center. Alabama State handed Texas Southern (19-11) one of its two losses in SWAC play, 60-48, on Feb. 28 in Montgomery.

Late free throws allow Texas Southern to stay alive in SWAC tournament

GARLAND, TX — Top-seeded Texas Southern needed clutch free throws at the end to hold off an upset bid by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 50-45, in Wednesday’s opening round of the Farmers Insurance SWAC Tournament at the Special Events Center. SWAC Player of the Year Travele Jones scored 19 for Texas Southern, but the win wasn’t secure until teammate Justin Ray hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left.

Arkansas Pine Bluff (7-24), the No. 8 seed, had lost both regular-season meetings with Texas Southern. UAPB led by five, 42-37, with 6:10 to play after a three-pointer by Allen Smith. But UAPB went nearly six minutes without scoring while Texas Southern chipped away.

TSU escapes with a victory

GARLAND, TX — Texas Southern survived its first challenge at the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament. The challenge, however, proved to be much bigger than many might have initially thought. The top-seeded Tigers rallied from a five-point deficit late in the second half to stall an upset bid from No. 8 seed Arkansas-Pine Bluff and escape with a 50-45 victory in Wednesday night's first-round matchup at the Special Events Center.

TSU (19-11) advances to the SWAC semifinals, where it'll face the winner of today's matchup between fourth-seeded Alabama State and fifth-seeded Alabama A&M. The Tigers' semifinal will be played at 8 p.m. Friday.

Prairie View men end season with loss to Jackson State

GARLAND – Prairie View A&M had a comeback in its sights after pulling within three points of Jackson State with nine minutes left in Wednesday’s Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament first-round matchup. And then suddenly, the Panthers went ice cold.

The seventh-seeded Prairie View men made just one field goal over the final 9:08 against No. 2 seed Jackson State, ending their season with a 50-38 loss at the Special Events Center.

The Panthers (10-22) shot only 31 percent and hit only two of 13 3-pointers. Prairie View fell behind 30-21 at the start of the second half, but quickly closed the gap, pulling within 38-35 on a layup by Duwan Kornegay at the 9:08 mark.

Prairie View women win SWAC tourney opener

GARLAND, Texas – Prairie View A&M was challenged by Jackson State in the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s tournament but held on for a 56-40 win Wednesday morning at the Special Events Center.

Dominique Smith scored a game-high 17 points, and Siarra Soliz had 15 points to help the second-seeded Panthers (19-11) advance to Friday's SWAC semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of the matchup between No. 3 seed Alcorn State and No. 6 Grambling State. Robin Jones also had a monster game for Prairie View, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and three steals.

SWAC Tournament 2011 Schedule And Bracket

The SWAC Conference tournament will be held in Garland, Texas, starting on Wednesday and running through Saturday. Most projections have the winner of the SWAC tournament being one of the absolute worst seeds in the NCAA's, but that doesn't necessarily mean they can't pull a win out once they get there.

The Texas Southern Tigers, hailing from Houston, are the #1 seed with a 18-11 mark, including a 16-2 run in conference. Led by senior Kevin Galloway, who almost never leaves the floor, the Tigers defense was the best in the SWAC. They'll open up against the #8 seed Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions, which went 7-23 on the season, with all 7 wins coming in-conference. The Tigers went 2-0 against them this season.

With conference tournaments in full force, NCAA Tournament bids are there to be won this week, and some teams can turn an otherwise sorry season into a good year by earning an NCAA bid. Texas Southern already has had a good season.

As for local schools, TSU has the best chance to prance in the Big Dance. That is apropos, says head coach Tony Harvey, who believes his Tigers are the best college basketball team in the area.

At 18-11, Harvey's team certainly has the best record, and the SWAC regular-season champions head to Garland this week as the favorite to earn the conference's automatic bid at the league tournament.

Alabama State Upsets JSU; Wins Eighth Straight

JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama State Men's basketball won its eighth game in succession with a 63-53 victory over Jackson State. It was a significant game in regards to seeding for the Southwestern Athletic Tournament. ASU (14-16, 11-6) now moves into third place in the standings. JSU falls to 15-14 overall and 11-6 in the conference.

ASU forced the Tigers into its lowest scoring output in conference play “We wanted to make them take tough shots”. Head coach Lewis Jackson said. We fought hard on the boards, made our free throws when they counted, and that was the difference”.

Two months ago in the conference opener, JSU prevailed in overtime 58-52. ASU missed 21 free throws in that game.

Tyrone Hansen entered the contest for JSU as the third leading scorer in SWAC. Despite 14 first half points from Hanson, ASU only trailed by two points at halftime 30-28. Hansen would go on to score a game high 21 points.

JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State men's basketball team fell 63-53 to the Alabama State Hornets Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference action at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

With the loss JSU falls to a 15-14 overall record and an 11-6 conference mark. Alabama State improves to a 14-16, 11-6 record.

Tyrone Hanson came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points to lead JSU. Jenirro Bush followed with 11 points. Tremayne Moorer led ASU with 16 points and Chris Duncan added 10.

Galloway Leads TSU in Come from Behind Win over Southern

Texas Southern point guard Kevin Galloway took a struggling Tiger team, and propelled them to a come from behind win against Southern in the H&PE Arena. Galloway scored 26 of his 32 points in the second half to give TSU a 71-63 victory.

Texas Southern was down by 11 points (22-11) with 7 minutes left to play in the first period. The first half ended with the Tigers trailing 24-33.

Southern increased their led to 16 points (48-32) after playing just 5 minutes into the second half. That’s went Galloway and his teammates stepped up and took control of the game. It took TSU 7 minutes to cut their deficit to 3 points (49-52). One minute later, the game was tied 54-54. Texas Southern took the lead on a jump shot by Abdallah Boune and Galloway did the rest. He attacked the rim and set up his follow Tigers for easy shots. When it was done, TSU won with an 8 point cushion.

Galloway was the high scorer of the game with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Lawrence Johnson-Danner had 11 points, 4 steals and 3 assists and Harrison Smith had 10 points.

Texas Southern will host Alcorn on Saturday for the final regular season game, before heading to Garland, TX to fight for the SWAC Championship Tournament Title.

ASU men's basketball defeats hot Texas Southern in SWAC play

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Alabama State University men's basketball team defeated the red-hot Texas Southern 60-48 Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, extending the Hornets' winning streak to seven.

The Hornets shot 49 percent from the field and held Texas Southern to just 32 percent shooting. Senior Tramayne Moorer led ASU with 14 points, followed by Kenderek Washington's 12 points and Ivory White's 10. ASU also outrebounded TSU 34-27.

Alabama State Lady Hornets Drop Texas Southern

Montgomery, Ala. – The Alabama State (7-20, 4-12) Women's basketball team ended a four game losing streak by defeating Texas Southern (5-22, 3-13). The final from the Dunn-Oliver Acadome was 61-41. The win gives the Lady Hornets a much needed boost in order to solidify the 8th and final seed for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament next week.

ASU led 22-17 at halftime holding TSU to under 30 percent shooting from the field. Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets shot 45 percent for the game.

Defense was the difference in the contest. In fact, ASU led 53-37 with three minutes to play. They also forced 29 TSU turnovers. “I feel like if we can continue to play like we did tonight and finish the season strong, we can make some strides leading into post season play”. Head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson said.

Tanika Jackson, who played her final game as a Lady Hornets on the home floor led all scorers with 20 points 14 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assist.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeats Jackson State 62-56

Savalace Townsend scored 21 points and Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Jackson State 62-56 on Monday night.

Townsend's layup with 3:55 left gave the Golden Lions (7-22, 7-10 SWAC) the lead for good at 51-50. He scored 16 of his 21 points after halftime, when Pine Bluff trailed 29-24. Allen Smith had 13 points and Terrell Kennedy 12 for Pine Bluff.

Jenirro Bush led Jackson State (15-13, 11-5) with 16 points and Grant Maxey scored 12. The Tigers shot 32 percent from the field while the Golden Lions made 40 percent of their shots.

Normal, AL - Harrison Smith scored 19 points as Texas Southern survived blowing a 14-point lead to edge Alabama A&M, 83-78, in overtime at Elmore Building in Normal Saturday.

With the victory, the Tigers (16-10, 14-1) clinched at least a share of the Southwestern Athletic Conference regular-season title. Even if TSU loses its last three games and Jackson State (11-4 SWAC) wins its last three, they would be tied. TSU swept the season series between the two and would earn the top seed in the SWAC tournament.

Tigers win eighth straight, clinch regular-season SWAC title

NORMAL, Ala. — Harrison Smith scored 19 points and Travele Jones added 18 to lead Texas Southern to an 83-78 overtime victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday night.

The Tigers (16-10, 14-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) shot 45.5 percent from the field (5 of 11), including 2 of 2 from 3-point range in the extra period en route to their eighth straight victory.

Kevin Galloway knocked down 1 of 2 free throws with 26 seconds left in regulation, tying the score at 70 and forcing overtime. Galloway finished with 10 assists.

Spears hires Green, Brown leaves Alcorn

Vyron Brown, recently tabbed by Spears as the Braves’ new offensive coordinator, has left Alcorn and will be returning to Grambling State to be with newly named coach Doug Williams.

LORMAN, MS — Alcorn State head football coach Melvin Spears has hired 2002 Alcorn State graduate Louis Green as the linebacker and special teams coach.

Green played for Alcorn coach Johnny Thomas from 1998-2002 as a linebacker. He played high school football at Jefferson County High and lettered in track and field and basketball as well.

After finishing at Alcorn, he played in the National Football League for the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos. He was with the Broncos from 2004-2009 when he was a linebacker and also played on special teams. He won the Ed Black Courage Award while with the Broncos and was in the National Youth Program at Alcorn for four years.

Mississippi Valley State Announces 2011 Football Schedule

ITTA BENA, MS - The Mississippi Valley State Department of Athletics has announced its 2011 football schedule. The 2011 slate of contests includes facing non-conference institution South Alabama along with the other nine members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The season opener for the Delta Devils will be on September 3 when MVSU hosts the Hornets of Alabama State. After on open week, MVSU will take on in-state rival Alcorn State (Sept. 17) followed by 2009 conference champion Prairie View A&M (Sept. 24).

The month of October will see MVSU host Southern (Oct. 1), travel to Alabama A&M (Oct. 8), host Jackson State (Oct. 15), travel to Grambling State (Oct. 22) and host 2010 SWAC champion Texas Southern (Oct. 29). The game against the TSU Tigers will be the highlight of Homecoming 2011.

The month of November will see MVSU travel to Mobile, Alabama to face the Jaguars of South Alabama on a Thursday night contest on November 3. The game will be the first time the Jaguars will take on a member of the SWAC in football. The regular season concludes as the Delta Devils host conference rival Arkansas-Pine Bluff on November 12.
