NSU ends skid, holds lead in MEAC with road win

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - Losing three of their last four games, the Norfolk State Spartans entered Monday night's game against Maryland Eastern Shore with winning on their minds.

A victory against the Hawks would end a two-game losing streak and keep Savannah State and Bethune-Cookman at bay in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings.

After seeing an 18-point lead dwindle to four, Norfork State held on for a 72-60 win. The Spartans set a new season record for victories at the Division I level.

"It's great to get the record," said Spartans coach Anthony Evans. "I know we tied it a while ago, but it was good to break it. We had a couple of bumps in the road but we rather it have it happen now than later in the season. We just need to rebound a little bit better and play team basketball."
